The Focal Profile series loudspeakers

Neatly tucked between the pricepoints of Focal's Cobalt S and new Electra 1000 Be loudspeakers is the brand new Profile line. The guiding philosophy behind the Profiles is something of a departure for Focal / JM Lab in that they have "started from scratch" in designing these speakers, taking nothing for granted in terms of styling, ease of use and, of course, sound. We think they're a smashing success and we think you will, too.

One look and you know these are special. The curved shape of the sides, obtained by a labor-intensive process of curving 6 panels of MDF, the absence of parallel partitions, and the continually changing cut of the speaker give it a visual identity all its own. But their beauty is much more than skin deep. This complex cabinet structure does away with interior standing waves. The second generation sandwich composite "W" speaker cones use glass film and varying densities of foam to provide optimum qualities of mass, rigidity, and damping. Building on the technology of the Berylium tweeter from the Utopia series, the Profiles aluminum/magnesium tweeter reached cleanly up to 30kHz without coloration. So don't think for a moment that the Profiles sacrifice sound quality for good looks - if anything, the Profiles have raised the bar on both counts.
Aside from the home theater models (see below) the Profiles come in three forms: the small "bookshelf" monitor 908 (seen on the right in Signature finish) at $2,295.00 a pair; the floorstanding 918 (shown left in Style and right in Classic finishes) at $3,995.00 a pair; and the larger floorstanding 928 (not shown) at $5,500.00 a pair. A matching speaker stand for the 908 is also available at $495.00 a pair. Profiles are available in the optional new (gorgeous) Diamond Black finish for a $100.00-$150.00/pr.upcharge.

built-in 500W amplifier as well as control of subsonic and low-pass filters, and even phase inversion!
