Here's something new under the sun - ENACOM noise filters from the Combak Corporation, the same folks who brought us the Harmonix Tuning devices. Audiophiles are just starting to wake up to what the ENACOMs can do and, as always, we at The Tweak Shop love staying one step ahead of the pack!
These handy-dandy copper-clad barrels are designed for use with either loudspeakers:
or your systems AC power supply:
"So what's in 'em?", you ask.
Each of those barrels actually contains an extremely high-quality capacitor (we don't know the values used, so don't ask) ensconced in a solid copper barrel to damp internal vibrations and ward off unwanted EMF, RFI, etc. The specific configuration depends on where they're being used. (Combak also makes an ENACOM for long runs of interconnect.)
The ENACOMs for loudspeakers ($99.00 a pair) attach, via the black and white pigtails, between the positive and negative binding posts on your 'speakers. The effect is immediately apparent - the noise floor of the entire system drops considerably, with music coming from a clean, grain-free background. An increase in overall transparency makes soundstage images more vivid and palpable. We've tried these in a variety of different 'speaker designs, and the results seem to be universal.
The ENACOMs for AC ($85.00 each) terminate in a standard, two-prong AC plug, and have much the same effect, but these are installed by plugging them directly into an AC outlet adjacent to the primary one used for your system (in other words, in parallel with the AC line). Many customers have used multiple AC ENACOMs and have reported an even more dramatic compounding of the "ENACOM Effect".
