| A shocking example of just how forward-thinking the folks at Cambridge Audio really are, the NP30 Network Music Player unites all types of digital/computer-based music and delivers it with the audiophile-quality performance we've come to expect from the company. Wirelessly stream music from your hard drive-based collection, listen to over 20,000 Internet Radio stations from around the globe (searchable by title, genre and region), catch up on your favorite podcasts, or enjoy broadcasts from subscription services like Sirius or Pandora - the NP30 handles it all! Using inovative circuit design for excellent jitter control (along with a Wolfson DAC) even low bitrate stations can sound their best. An ethernet connection even allows for 24-bit files (like FLAC) for outstanding playback of your higher-resolution music. (The NP30 supports an amazing variety of audio formats including MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, AIFF, PCM, and even OGG Vorbis.) So, however youve downloaded your music or ripped your CDs, the NP30 will enhance your digital music with greater detail, more accurate recreation of live recordings and significantly increased dynamic range. Already have a favorite outboard DAC? Use the NP30s direct digital output.
Here at The Tweak Shop we've had a chance to explore the NP30 and its capabilities and we're seriously impressed. The NP30 uses UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) to access your hard drive, so we were a little concerned about the interface (Macs aren't set up for UPnP) but we shouldn't have worried. Using simple software (like Elgato's eyeConnect) makes the process easy, painless, and reliable. All of our high-quality rips (most are digitized directly from LP) were immediately available for access on the NP30. If you haven't experienced Internet Radio yet, it's a blast. Seemingly endless choices of broadcasts from everywhere on our planet means that, whatever music, talk shows, and sportcasts you're in the mood for, it's available! One of our customers was entertaining a friend from Thailand and surprised them with a Thai newscast when they arrived. Similarly, a British guest was surprised to be greeted by a show direct from the BBC! The front panel control screen is large and easy to read.. Aside form the included remote control, there's even a free UuVol Remote App for your iPhone! The NP30s small footprint makes installation a cinch - just leave a little room for the antenna in back (see below). Highly recommended! Cambridge Audio Sonata NP30 Network Music Player: $599.00. |
